Khotso is a working horse and sheep farm located on 1300 hectares of land at the foot of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains. Officially known as Tretower farm, this family run business has been operating for generations.
Originally sheep were the main source of income, however the constant attacks from jackal made it almost impossible to maintain a profit. It was decided that a backpackers and horse trails were the way forward and in the early 90s, Khotso opened her doors to the first travellers.
Since then, Khotso has grown to become the most established horse trail stables in the Southern Drakensberg, the most comfortable ....

At the heart of Sani Spoors is a bunch of local farmers who are passionate about mountain biking and about the beautiful area that they live in. They want locals and riders from all over the country to be able to come, experience, share and enjoy what they have here in the Underberg area.
The pristine dairy farms dotted along the Umzimkulu River and its tributaries with the cows feeding in the green pastures and with the backdrop of the Ukhahlamba Mountains and the surrounding World Heritage site is just a spectacular and magnificent setting to be out in the crisp fresh air riding on a mountain bike.
The vision is therefore to create a system ...
Originally built as a fortified laager, the “Old Fort” in Himeville (the last of its type to be constructed in South Africa) was completed in 1900. In 1902 it was taken over by the Natal Mounted Police and was used as a prison until its closure in 1972. Subsequently, through the efforts of local residents and the local Historical Society, who took over the buildings in 1976, it became a museum, which was opened to the public in 1981.
Said to be one of the best rural museums in South Africa, the museum comprises a large complex (warders’ house, cells, the armoury (originally the only building within the laager walls), workshops and parade ground, and a few additional buildings erected to house some of the exhibits ....

The river population of rainbow trout is self-sustaining and in equilibrium, which means that the river fishing is completely natural and that the fish are wild. Some of the still waters have bass populations. Once stocked in the dams ...
